4-1-13 Bart
« on: April 01, 2013, 08:35 PM »
So on they way to lake driving down the Bartlett rd we found several snakes crossing road. So the last one i pulled over to check what it was and it was a 5.5 foot Glossy snake. I love snakes so i had to get my hands on it. Got out my snake pole and carefully pick it up. I mean I like snakes but I don't want to get bit. My buddy took a nice pic ill post.  Started fishing around 9 thought it was gonna be overcast it was not. Water temp was 66. Visibility still low. Did not find any slabs in usually spots. Had some real nice wind to deal with. Stopped in a lil cove just north of YC ramp and caught two slabs chasing shad and 4 bass and a Blue gill. All slabs and bass returned and lil blue catfish bait.

Hea Pard, a 5.5 foot glossy snake would be some kind of a new world record. What you have there looks like a good  old Gopher Snake, Pituophis catenifer.

Glad you like snakes.

I too enjoy seeing snakes, and I try to rescue as many as I can from the radial reaper.  Smart of you to bring a snake hook, gopher snakes tend to have an attitude and a nasty bite to go with it.
