Spring Crappie-Fest 2013 Results
« on: April 07, 2013, 11:29 AM »
These are the 2013 Spring Crappie Fest derby results.  I was told that this weigh-in had the most with fish and highest total for fish ever.  Great job!!

For the derby, there were 20 teams, total payout of $1200, and this year nearly all were out the gate promptly at 6am.  No slackers!  Total weights were your best 7 fish with 4-lines out max and weighin at 3pm.

1st Place ($400) -- Team cousinlll and sparkchaser weighed in a total of 12.72lbs
2nd Place ($240) -- Team papermouth weighed in a total of 10.16lbs
3rd Place ($160) -- Team Fishless weighed in a total of 9.56lbs

Big Fish ($400) -- Team cousinlll and sparkchaser had a fish weighing 2.75lbs

As usual, the winners shared their techniques and how they caught their fish. We had some deep water trollers and some cast-to-shore folks so a nice range of techniques.

For the total weight, here are the other teams' weights:
MeNRats -- 5.24lbs
FishHawk -- 5.22lbs
Hairless -- 4.85lbs
Freshwater -- 4.69lbs
Rocko - 4.51lbs
Art Chamberlain - 3.43lbs
On the Rocks -- 2.99lbs
Crowbait -- 2.82lbs

For the big fish, here are the other teams' weights:
Papermouth -- 2.57lb
FishHawk -- 2.27lb
Art Chamberlain -- 2.07lb
MeNRats -- 1.78lb

Congratulations fellers!

Wow!  Wish I could've been there!  Reminds me of the days of the Crappiethon they used to have on Rosey when we were kids.

They used to catch and tag crappie.  If you caught a tagged crappie, you turned it in for a prize.  Lotsa sponsors back then, so the prizes were sometimes extravagant...  IIRC, top prize was a new boat.

It was cool.  They made "Wanted" posters and everything.  I think THE crappie (the top prize) was named Sneaky Pete or Pistol Pete...something like that.  My Grandpa would always put the kids in it.

Just like the Crappie Fest...gonna try to catch some crappie anyway...might as well grab some cash while you're at it.

I tried to make it up, but no good.  Was gonna come just for the meeting, but that didn't work out either (obviously).

I'll meet you blokes one of these days.  I'll try to make The Classic.

Congrats again, guys!  Well done.
