Pimp my Rods

I've been wanting to paint the tips of my trolling rods to make them more visible. I went by Wal-Mart to see what fluorescent spray paints they had. Pink, orange and orange/ red was all so I bought a can of pink and tried it. I didn't do a base coat, it came out OK but more of a red and not too much fluoro look to it.

So I went by a hobby shop and got fluoro green Rust-Oleum and gave it another shot. It came out great! I then tested it out at SC last week to make sure the paint wouldn't chip or crack on hook sets and landing. It held up great!

It makes it so much easier to pay attention to 2 rods on opposite sides of the boat while trolling. It also helps big time when you get the sun reflecting off the water and can't see the tips well. I guessing it will be killer at night!

1) mask and sand lightly
2) white primer base coat
3) fluoro
4) dry and unmask
