Any crappie near Safford area?
« on: November 12, 2018, 10:36 PM »
I’ll be visiting family over thanksgiving up near the central / Safford area...
I have fished Cluff Pond before near Pima and caught some winter stocked trout and bluegill...the website says it holds Crappie which is what I’d like to try targeting.

Anyone have experience with any lakes up that way?  Thanks!

Closets location with a population of crappie is San Carlos lake on the reservation, but I understand they had another die off this summer for crappie due to low water. You need a reservation permit to fish at that lake. After that you have to drive to Roosevelt lake for crappie. Unless you can find a local farmer or rancher in Safford with a pond with crappie in it?
