Bartlett 11/23
« on: November 23, 2018, 08:44 PM »
Fished from 1 until 5. Ran out of light, and left them bitting. Tight lined minnows very slow above the trees uplake between Cat Bay and Yellow Cliffs. Best bite came on the 1oz drop shot rigs. Caught 11 crappie 5 bass, 1 bluegill. Quite a bit of traffic through the area until 3. Once the traffic slowed, the bite really picked up.

Cool good to hear. Always tough to leave when they’re biting.

Can you explain a little how you rig up and how you fish the tight line method please?  Also where is a good place to buy minnows?  Thanks

I use a modified drop shot rig. 1oz weight on the bottom, up 12 to 14 inches to a bare hook on a loop knot. 12 to 14 inches above that to a bare hook with a loop knot. Then 12 inches up to a loop knot that I clip onto a main line swivel. My rig is similair to the one in he middle of the attchment.

I live in the east valley and get my minnows at Liars Corner

Thanks!  And you’re just cruising around trolling it above the trees as you find them?  Do you need to jig up and down at all or just let the minnows do their thing?

Was wondering if it was an afternoon bite, sounds like it, hate the boat traffic thanks for the report.

I'm using 14 foot rods with that set up. 12 foot if I use 1/2oz weights. Once I find them I put the bait at the depth I want and use a rod holder. Sometimes I troll it less than .5, but in this case I was spot locking onto the schools.

Sounds like you found them, I was up there as well till about 4pm. We picked up a couple long line trolling 1/8oz jigs at  .9 to 1mph. The best way to spend black Friday. We packed it in when the wake boat decided to give everyone a dose of their brand of music.

First the horn, then the music. We weren't impressed either.
