AZGFD 2021-22 Fishing Regulations - Limits and Other Info
« on: February 06, 2021, 08:48 AM »
You can view the AZGFD 2021-22 Fishing Regulations to verify all rules and regulations including crappie limits on Arizona lakes.  I'll highlight a few items next.

Crappie Limits
15 Crappie
Bartlett Lake
Roosevelt Lake
Colorado River-Separation Canyon to Davis Dam, including Lake Mead and Lake Mohave

10 Crappie
Lake Powell

25 Crappie
Colorado River-California/Nevada border to the International Boundary, including Topock Marsh and Lake Havasu (in any combination with sunfish)

For all other lakes, view page 5 of the fishing regulations as well as search up the lake in the regulations to make sure no special limits apply for that lake.

The Arizona Crappie Association (AZCA) recommends returning any crappie less than 10" in length as well as being mindful about how many crappie you take. You may opt to return that big crappie back to the lake to make another angler's day with a big catch.  Plus, for some Arizona lakes the ADEQ has advised against eating any or limiting consumption of crappie because of elevated levels of mercury or other environmental contaminants (see below).

Possession Limits
Statewide possession limits are twice (2x) the daily bag limit for each species, unless a different possession limit is specified by water.  “Possession limit” means the maximum limit, in number or amount of fish, which may be possessed at one time by any one person.

Two-Pole Limit
Anglers may fish with two poles or lines simultaneously. In no case are more than two lines allowed to be used at the same time. "Angling" means the taking of fish by one line and not to exceed two hooks, by one line and one artificial lure, which may have attached more than one hook, or by one line and not to exceed two artificial flies or lures.

Fish Consumption Advisories
Alamo Lake: ADEQ recommends that the public not consume crappie from this lake.
Santa Fe Reservoir: ADEQ recommends that adults limit consumption of these fish to 2.4 ounces (uncooked weight) per week and children 12 years old and younger limit consumption to 2 ounces per month (uncooked weight).

There are limits on walleye, bluegill, bass, and other species listed on page 45.
