Bartlett
« on: March 21, 2011, 07:30 AM »
I fished Bartlett for crappie for about 4 hours Sunday morning.  Ended up with only one crappie, two bass, and 7 blue gill.  The blue gill are spawning, but unfortunatly the crappie are not.

Any size to the 'gills?

They usually spawn after the crappie. That's odd that they triggered first.

SRP is dropping bartlett so quick and with a lack of brush on the lake I think the crappie are still in the stand by mode and it looks like bartlett will keep falling till SRP switches over to the salt side for water deliveries which may not be till the end of april :( which is going to hurt bartlett bad I am afraid

We love to catch and eat bluegills. My daughter is wanting to go to Canyon this weekend. Maybe I can switch her to Bartlett :)

We were just dragging minnows with a splitshot and the bluegill would attack it almost immediatly.  They were in the backs of coves and in the trees.  If you had a small hook and some salmon eggs you could probably catch a boat load of them right now at Bartlett.  Blue gill outstanding to eat, if you can catch enough of them.  Good luck

The only bluegill that I've caught over 8" were at Lake Powel.  That lake grows them big!  I'd say they these were around 7"
