AZCA Bob Hirsch Crappie Classic 2022 Results
« on: October 17, 2022, 06:53 AM »
The Arizona Crappie Association (AZCA) Bob Hirsch Crappie Classic 2022 is in the books! The weather held out much of the week until Saturday on and off during the day there were a few storms roll through.  Participants started showing up as early as Wednesday and all had checked out by Sunday noon.  The club reserved at least 16 sites in the C loop for club members and all sites were taken.  Friday night Tommy hosted a poker game but once the game was done, all were in bed early for the early launch the next morning.  There were 2 bass tournaments so our club avoided the Cholla boat ramp and had checkin in the overflow lot across from the C-loop fish cleaning station and then weighin, meeting, and raffle in the open area near site C-29.  Weather held off to allow no issues for weigh-in, meeting, and raffle, however storms rolled through that caused us to have to cancel the potluck last minute.

Crappie Tournament
On Saturday, for the crappie tournament, the results were as follows:

2022 BHCC - 12 Teams $720 Payout - Alamo Lake
* 1st place ($240) - Team Cameron's Custom Jigs, 7 fish, 11.58 lbs
* 2nd place ($144) - Team FishHawk, 7 fish, 10.74 lbs
* 3rd place ($96) - Team Seven with Style, 7 fish, 10.51 lbs
* Wild Willie Big Fish ($240) - Team Cameron's Custom Jigs, 2.20 lbs

At least half of the boats caught at least 7 crappie so it was fairly good fishing.

Meeting & New Members
After the weighin, we held the meeting.  Weather held up so we lucked out! I will be posting the detailed meeting minutes in the internal club forum. We had a very close vote for Spring Crappie Fest location with Alamo Lake winning out on the vote over Roosevelt Lake.  Spring Crappie Fest will be held at Alamo Lake and the club has the large group site reserved for that event on Saturday, April 1, 2023. Mark your calendars!

We voted in 5 new members.  Tommy (FishMan) is working with them to get their membership forms and payments for membership and then I will work with them to get them on the website with internal club forum access.  Welcome new members: Matt, Alan, Art, Eric, and Jacob!!

Raffle
Saturday after the meeting we held the raffle and gave away lots of great prizes including LED Flashlights, 1 Bass Pro Shop gift card, 2 Zero Gravity Chairs, Stainless Steel Multitool Pocket Knife, 1 MTECH Spring Assist Folding Knife, multiple packs of fluks and rip shads, 1 ACC Crappie Stix 14ft Trolling Rod, 1 10ft ACC Crappie Stix 10ft Jigging Rod, 2 Liars Korner $25 Gift Cards, 2 Nerf Guns, 2 packs of handmade Cameron's Custom Jigs, 1 bottle of Crown Royal Whisky, and Red Rider Carbine Daisy 650 Shot BB Gun.

Thank You
Special thanks to the following who donated some to the raffle:
* Liar's Korner Bait and Tackle for the 2 $25 gift cards -- https://www.facebook.com/liarskorneraz
* Get Out and Fish (Richard Johnson) for the flukes and rip shads -- https://www.getoutandfishusa.com
* Cameron's Custom Jigs (aka Crappie Whisperer) 2 packs of handmade jigs -- https://www.facebook.com/groups/169460015028474
* Louis (aka PhishingPhreek) for the bottle of Crown Royal Whisky
* Dorian Rokusek (aka JackRabbit) for the 2 nerf guns
* Orrin (aka OFromWi) for an AZCA embroidered cooking apron

Extra thanks to Tim (Timbo) who brought many of the raffle prizes and successfully ran the crappie tournament. He adjusted well moving checkin so that we weren't impacted by the bass tournaments. Thanks to Alf (apenland) who assisted Timbo in the tournament as well.

Thanks to Dave (sparkchaser), Tommy (FishMan), and Larry (cousinlll) who helped behind the scenes making campsite reservations, getting passes, etc.

Thanks to JT (SlabDaddy), Cameron (Crappie Whisperer), Randy Howton (Slipbobber72), and Matt for cleaning all of the fish.

Thanks to Tommy (FishMan), our Treasurer, who is always posting up to date and accurate statements monthly while also acting as interim membership director helping get new members in the club.  Tommy also ran the raffle successfully getting the kids involved and helping give away some great prizes.

Thanks to Louis (PhishingPhreek) for managing the club website and our social media accounts (Facebook and Instagram), and fixing that darn "truncate text" but we had on the site earlier in the year.

Thanks to everyone who donated to the raffle. Some of the funds required to acquire the C-loop camping reservations for the last few events used extra funds made from the raffle to pay for the more expensive campsites.

Finally, thanks to all AZCA Members -- your financial contribution as well as lake reports and other contributions to the website help our organization continue to grow and thrive!

Please feel free to post pictures you took here.  Louis (PhishingPhreek) may take some of your pictures and post them on our social media accounts.
