Reminder, this event is gonna be a blast!  This year we have secured the large group site so we can all camp together.  Just be sure and check-in each vehicle at the camp store to get your passes which should be valid for boat ramp as well.  If you are a up-to-date paid AZCA member, then our treasurer FishMan (Tommy) will reimburse you up to $15 for each night Friday and Saturday only and you'll be responsible for any extra days.

Saturday kicks off with our Spring Crappie Fest crappie tournament. This is a fun laid-back tournament open to everyone - consider joining even if you're not a "master" crappie fisheman/woman.  The tournament has been won by many skill levels and really is all in fun.  Proceeds of the entry fee go to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place, and biggest crappie.  A small fee goes towards paying for trophies and insurance fees.

After the crappie tournament back at the group site remember we'll do the weigh-in and announcement of winners.  Winners will speak on how and what they caught their winning crappie on so we can all learn.  After that we follow on with the meeting open for members and non-members.  The new administration for the AZCA will be there and talk about the upcoming year's plans for the AZCA.  After the meeting, we'll have another great raffle giveway so bring some $$ to buy tickets. This year, we are raffling off a guided trip with AZ Crappie Sniper guide service, likely our biggest single-item giveway in recent years.  After the raffle we'll need help with some people to clean fish and then please plan on attending the fish fry, potluck, campfire, etc.  Please bring a dish (main, side, dessert, etc.) to share.

If you are an AZCA member and haven't been to many meetings this year, this is one you should really try and attend. If you're not an AZCA member, this is also a great opportunity to learn about the Arizona Crappie Association and meet many of its members and if you like the club, a great opportunity to join.

Reminder!  The AZCA Spring Crappie Fest is right around the corner.  Keep that week and weekend only for some fun times at Alamo Lake.  It's a great opportunity to meet up with fellow crappie fishermen and women. Entering the tournament is always optional and you can always just attend the weighin, meeting, raffle, and fish fry/potluck that Saturday if you want.

Because of increased water levels, the Spring Crappie Fest tournament checkin and live well check this Saturday, April 1st will occur at the large group site on the Cholla side (not the Cholla boat ramp) starting around 5:45am. Once authorized by the tournament director, participants can go launch out of the high water ramp on the Main side. Additional and final instructions will be given by the tournament director at the event when you checkin and have your live well check.

You may weigh-in your fish starting at 2:30pm also at the large group site and be sure and checkin with the tournament director and weigh-in before 3pm, otherwise you will incur late penalties.

The tournament is open to everyone and the cost is just $75 per boat and you can fish up to 4 poles.  Winner payouts given to the top 3 weights for 7 crappie, as well as a payout for the "Wild Willie Biggest Crappie".  The top weight and biggest crappie winners receive trophies.

You can find information about the Spring Crappie Fest as well as download and print out the tournament entry form (with map of locations) so that you can fill it out ahead of time by going to http://www.azcrappie.com/forum/index.php/page,scf2023.html

And don't forget, be sure and like/follow our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/arizonacrappie/).

There is limited parking at the high water ramp in the dirt gravel lot. I heard they can fit 50 truck & trailers, but only if people park correctly. If all spots are taken, they may have additional spots in the B or D loop. Lastly, they said if all parking spots are taking, then people may have to park back at Cholla large group site and in that case, they could get picked up at the cholla ramp by the boater.

I just talked to Tim (Park Ranger) at Alamo Lake. He said there might be another tournament going on but wasn't sure.  There is a group of marked for 10-12 RVs that have the small group site reserved and Tim said they are out of Prescott.  Tim said the parking for the High Water main ramp is 1/3 full just today, but they expect to fill it up this weekend. Only trucks with trailers will be able to park in the High Water main ramp parking lot, and they will turn away any single vehicles. He said fishing sucks. I told him a couple members want to arrive early Wednesday morning and he said that's OK, but the outhouse may not be cleaned out until mid day Wednesday. Tim asked everybody coming in Wednesday and Thursday to check in at the store to get their park passes for Wednesday and Thursday. Tommy Rufrano (FishMan) should have an allocation of passes for AZCA members with up-to-date paid memberships for Friday and Saturday.

Three Cs: Cash, Crappie, and Campfire wood. For the Spring Crappie Fest this weekend, please bring:
-- Cash: for your tournament entry ($75), annual membership fee ($45), raffle tickets ($10 each or $50 for 6), shirts ($20-$25), AZCA koozies/drinkware ($20-$25), AZ Lead Works beanies and jigs/weights, Crappie Whisperer hand tied jigs, AZCA stickers (free for AZCA members, otherwise $5 each), and much more!  Remember, your annual membership fee and purchase of raffle prize tickets helps pay for AZCA events, camping fees, etc.
-- Crappie: bring a bag of crappie from your freezer just in case....  Save your crappie you catch earlier in the week for the fish fry.
