Army Core of Engineers has sent out schedule for releases from Alamo lake

(1/2) > >>

Fishless:
Sure looks a lot like the riparian flush they did several years ago that everyone fought against other than it appears they will release water longer >:(

Alamo Dam will begin releasing
water on 20 March 2023 at a rate
higher than the usual baseflow
amount. Once the lake rises
above the target water surface
elevation of 1125 feet, NGVD,
the Corps is required to bring the
lake level back down by increas-
ing the discharge from the dam to
maintain sufficient space in the
reservoir for flood risk manage-
ment.
The current plan is to make large
releases during the first week.
Releases will increase up to 5,000
cfs on Monday, 20 March, and
will step down each day until they
reach 2750 cfs on Thursday, 23
March. On Friday, 24 March,
flows will be reduced to 500 cfs
and will be gradually reduced over
the next 2 weeks until they reach
approximately 235 cfs. A release
of about 235 cfs is planned to
continue until the lake reaches the
target elevation of 1125, which
could take up to 3 or 4 months
depending on conditions
The plan may be revised due to
unforeseen circumstances or
weather events.
If you intend to be downstream
of the dam between 20 March
and mid-April, please check

pages/alamo.php for real time
information on the release rate of
the dam and exercise extreme
caution as release rate may change
suddenly
