Title: Pleasant 6/14
Post by: 85260man on June 18, 2022, 08:26 PM
We went up the river arm and camped out for the night.  Got 2 crappie, 3 channel cats, 5 bluegills, and only 3 white bass despite a lot of white bass showing up throughout the night.   The night fish were really into eating the fry and not minnows which some people mentioned on FB recently.  Any suggestions?  I don't think I have anything in my arsenal that looks like a 1/4 inch baby shad.

I would try moving spots and depths. Some night it takes 3 or 4 location changes for me to find larger shad and better fish.

Pleasant can be crazy and exact location is definitely the key. The club has gone there for a June meeting and night fishing in years past. One year I fished a spot where we caught somewhere around 50 crappie while another boat less than 100 yards from us wasn't getting much. Then the next year I was fishing about 50 yards from Dave and Tommy and they were catching crappie left and right, while my boat was only boating a few here and there.

I was catching the crappie within 15 minutes of anchoring up on my great day, so finding that right location does seem to be key there.
