Fished Alamo this weekend with One Blade and Rats and Me aboard Matt’s Boat. All 3 arrived separately at the C Loop in Social Isolation at around noon. On the water by 1:00. Fished in 40FOW with all fish about 12-15 feet deep on drop shot Minowes up front and long lined road runners from the back. Ended with 10 solid fish and 5 dinks. Sunday morning on the water at safe light, picked up a quick 15 in same 40FOW....then moved to 20FOW over brush and started nailing much bigger fish from down in the brush. Bigger fish all came on 1/16 jig head, bubble gum grub and allowed to fall down into the brush. Several at 2.25 and biggest at 2.29.

Total caught day 1 was 15......Rats took 8 of them home for dinner. Total caught day 2 was 30......all were released.

As Tommy fishman mentioned we released all of them the 2nd day to grow up to be the Moby 3lb-r next year. Weather was great.

Looks like fun! I’ve never been to Alamo before...can you point me in the right direction where to find the brush on the lake? Not looking for waypoints - just general area :D

A lot of people just go out to the buoy line you can't miss it but goes across entire lake just a bit out and to the right as you launch from cholla ramp. If you go out, you may just see if there is a flotilla or bunch of boats somewhere and try there first. But as you head up river (direction opposite dam direction) you'll start to find more and more trees/brush in a lot of spots the closer as you get near land on that side of the lake. I would think in winter time they won't be that shallow so you probably can avoid those more shallow areas for deeper areas in favor of 15-30ft deep.
I'm poor at explaining these things. Anyone else give it a try?

Even though the water is up the lake is not that big/long if you want to see brush and trees launch at Cholla make a right turn and head up lake, the lake is not marked that well with buoys so kind of stay in the middle as you head up lake some reefs and points go out quite a ways, when you get up that way slow down and explore lots of trees and brush.

Thanks - I'm assuming most crappie are going to be in that 20-30ft range...thats where I've been finding them at Bartlett and Rosey.
When the weather warms up do most crappie move up into trees and stay suspended? (aside from the spawn)
