I've signed up as a boat volunteer for Sunday CAST event, and planning on fishing Saturday as well. I reserved Ringtail 501 dry camping at Lake Pleasant Harbor Marina area
Fri, Mar. 1, 2024 through  Mon, Mar. 4, 2024. I'll be leaving on Sunday afternoon but booked Monday as well since I won't be able to packup until mid-afternoon on Sunday.  Come join the fun!

I wasn't sure about that site # as it didn't show exact location but dry camping much cheaper than full hookups.  If you book a site, let us know site # so we can camp near each other.

Upcoming Events / C.A.S.T. For Kids Sunday, March 3rd at Lake Pleasant
« Last post by OneBlade on January 27, 2024, 12:10 PM »
Hey all, they are doing the C.A.S.T. For Kids event again this year, Sunday, March 3rd, 2024 at Lake Pleasant. They need volunteers on shore or boat to make it happen as they usually have more interest from kids than boaters. A few Arizona Crappie Association members did this last year and feedback was very positive of the event.  Go here for the link to register: https://castforkids.org/event/lakepleasant/

Please don't delay in registering as late registration makes it very difficult for the event organizers and families to plan and run the event.

This is a C.A.S.T. for Kids event designed to provide children with disabilities, ages 6 – 18, the opportunity to enjoy a quality outdoor recreational experience through the sport of fishing. Take to the water with C.A.S.T. for an unforgettable morning of fishing and boating!

Quote #1: “It made my heart happy to be giving back to families, kids with special needs love doing activities just like everyone else and events like this make that a possibility for families that are either struggling or are afraid to do it alone.” – Shore Volunteer, Lake Pleasant

Quote #2: “The C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation is wonderful! The event that is put on every year in Arizona (Lake Pleasant) is outstanding – from beginning to end. A big THANK YOU to all who took part (e.g, volunteers, organizers, boat captains, sponsors) in making this event an AMAZING experience!!!! My son looks forward to it every year!”- Parent of Participant, Lake Pleasant

Upcoming Events / Re: Apache Lake Fish Habitat Build and Install Jan 27
« Last post by OneBlade on January 25, 2024, 06:46 AM »
Saturday, Jan. 27 - Apache Lake. Originally a two-day project, this has been rescheduled to Jan. 27 only. Meet at 9 a.m. at Burnt Corral Boat Ramp (please note that SR 88 is currently closed between Fish Point and the Apache Lake Marina, pending repairs by ADOT). We will be placing Mossback Safe Haven and Georgia Cube fish habitat structures into Apache Lake. Volunteers will be constructing habitat and assisting with loading it onto department boats for install. This activity will include the use of some power tools such as drills, so small children will likely not be able to participate in this event. However, we welcome ages 10+ to come help out and see what we do. Volunteers should bring their own water, food, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, etc., and will want to wear closed-toed shoes and clothes appropriate for January weather. Work is anticipated to take from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. To sign up for this project, visit https://volunteer.azgfd.gov/need/detail/?need_id=873452. If you have questions, please email Lacey Schmitt at LSchmitt@azgfd.gov or Nathan Bailey at NBailey@azgfd.gov.

Friday, Jan. 26 - Roosevelt Lake. Meet at 9 a.m. at the Ringtail Boat Ramp at the Windy Hill Recreation Site. On Jan. 20, AZGFD staff and volunteers installed 1,035 Christmas trees to be used as fish habitat at 12 sites around Roosevelt Lake. There are roughly 1,000 additional trees left to install. We will be tying trees to cinder blocks and loading them up on department pontoons to distribute around the lake. We will provide some gloves, for those that need them, along with the habitat supplies to get the trees ready to deploy. Volunteers should bring their own water, food, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, etc. and should wear closed-toed shoes and clothes appropriate for January weather. Work is anticipated to take from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. To sign up for this project, visit https://volunteer.azgfd.gov/need/detail/?need_id=873889. If you have questions, please email Lacey Schmitt at lschmitt@azgfd.gov or Nathan Bailey at nbailey@azgfd.gov.

All Other Lakes / 1/22/2024 Fishing Report & Upcoming Events
« Last post by OneBlade on January 22, 2024, 07:46 PM »
Here's your weekly Arizona Crappie fishing report, provided by Randy Howton (AZ Crappie Sniper Guide Service), Matthew Picklesimer (AZLeadWorks), Brian Bernard (Mudshark Marine), Cameron Gilliam (Crappie whisperer), and Richard Johnson as part of their weekly Monday night 7:30pm live feed on Facebook. To listen live and interact/comment, you just need to like and follow the "National Crappie League’s Crappie fisherman of arizona" Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/groups/169460015028474.

Crappie Fishing Report 1/22/2024

Alamo Lake – Lake is on fire!  Lots of big crappie.  Randy went out the other day with his veteran friend and they opted to only keep 14” and greater.  They kept 20 of those 14” crappie (over 2lb) and still let 20+ more of that size go.

Roosevelt Lake – Lake is also still on fire.  Slab Grabber is catching some giants out there, like last week 7 fish bag total weight over 16lbs.  Fish staying alive better than a few months back.  Most fish are suspended and in other cases roaming around in singles.

Lake Pleasant – Not as good for size and quantity compared to the other lakes, but they are catching a few crappie.  White bass fishing is on fire so no issue catching them or stripers either.

Bartlett Lake – Still good fishing, and people having problems are just sticking on single trees too long.  Need to move around a lot.  Randy and Brian caught a lot of big crappie there last week.

Patagonia Lake – As seen by Vu, some big crappie out there.  Caught in schools.

Please do consider posting your own crappie fishing reports in our forum under "Lake Reports" at http://www.azcrappie.com/forum/index.php?action=forum

You can always get a live video/audio weekly crappie fishing report directly by tuning into the "National Crappie League’s Crappie fisherman of arizona" Facebook live feed on Monday nights around 7pm.
