Title: Crappie Spawn coming or gone?
Post by: kgmerrill12 on April 13, 2021, 09:25 AM
I fished Rosy 4-9-2021. Only caught 1 crappie, black male in about 4 ft of water. Hit a light yellow jog with red sprakles like it was his worst nightmare, caught lots of bass on any shoreline, mostly 6-8 " and only 4 that were 14".

I see the surface water temp was 70 degrees.

Has the spawn already come and gone? or is it yet to happen? I know crappie spawn 62-63 degrees, but is that a surface temp or the deeper depth in which they spawn?

I think it just started. None of the males we caught last weekend had bloody tales from fanning beds.

Been a weird year at Rosy and Alamo, it appears that Alamo just went off this last week or so and I agree with Spark Chaser I think Rosy is way behind as it seems any males found shallow are on the end of the lake and extremely shallow

We were at Alamo on Sunday.  Fished in 8' to 30', around trees and in the flats.  4 bits, 2 small crappie.  We've done well up till this year normally.  I personally don't think Alamo is hopping during the day.  One report suggested the night bite is rocking.  Absolutely beautiful day though with only waves from passing boats.
