My Wal-mart special tackle box is falling apart. It's the classic design we probably all had as kids that opens up layers on the left and right side with area at the bottom to put larger items. I like the fact I fit everything in there and doesn't seem to matter what I put in the bottom, it still fits! But opening it takes a lot of room and if it gets knocked over I have a project now to put everything back in their trays. Seems like a lot of people have these plastic compartments. Wonder if they can fit my holder for liters, scale, and larger items.
I'm not sure I can wait to BHC to check out all of the member's tackle boxes in person so any tips on types, styles, brands, etc. let me know. Might want to buy now so I can have it all ready for the Classic.

That's something that I have always struggled with. What seems to work the best for me is multiple smaller boxes that accommodate specific tackle.
I have one medium size box that I keep hooks, sinkers, corks, swivels, pliers, line, etc... in.
I have a few compartment style boxes for jigs, crankbaits, topwaters, soft plastics,etc...
My medium size box above goes on every trip but I have species-specific boxes that I take when I target different fish. One for crappie, a few for bass, another for trout, another few for stripers, one for catfish.
Then I have the boat bag which is a catch-all for the bigger stuff that goes on every trip.

i really like the plastic tray type thingys with my satchell, cuz; trade out trays, i have one for general tools hooks botttom bouncers big bobbers, this one is 3-4 in deep, my crappie grubs and jigs in another 4 inch tray, cranks in onather pike and large walleye cranks and spinners in another, rigs and harnesses in another,you get the drill these are two inch deep so my satchel can hold 5 trays; only one tray open at a time only one tray gets dumped at a time; the satchell has pouches for line scales ipilot gloves sunscreen etc; travels well, i travel with a big cheap duffel bag takes two broke down rods with the satchell in the middle and clothes on each side; easy to go with someone else tooc uz you can put all your gear for a day in the one satchell so your footprint on the boat stays tiny like me.

Plano 3700's for everything! That way when you fish in another person's boat you only have to take certian boxes and not ALL of your tackle.

Planos are the way to go for me. Plus I recently bought a "vertical stacking" bag that holds 4 boxes, accesable from front, and has a zip up top for whatever, and side flap pouches. I like it!

Fo sho! A tackle bag with 3700 or 3600 boxes is the only way to go. Bass Pro has some nice ones at a good price. This is what I use, its a 360 and smaller than the 370 but work perfect for me.

Along with the Plano series boxes, I'm also a fan of some of these falcon speciality boxes. I have the one for terminal tackle (need another one!), two crankbait boxes, two jerkbait boxes & a couple boxes just for my spinnerbaits. Guess you can never have too much fishing stuff....... :glasses9:

Wow that's crazy - integrated for ipod and stereo!? I can't find a price. Well I ended up getting a Plano with less bells and whistles but I think size is similar. This is way different than my classic tackle box so we'll see how it goes. Thanks everyone for the tips.
