Post by: cousinlll on March 03, 2015, 05:25 PM
2015 Spring Crappie Fest

The 2015 AZCA Spring Crappie Fest will be held the weekend of Friday, April 17th thru Sunday, April 19th at Roosevelt Lake - Grapevine Group Site – Coot and Grebe Loops. This is our club's annual spring campout, fishing derby and open meeting. Spring Crappie Fest is open to all AZCA Club Members and their families along with registered users of this website and their families. Please join us for a fun filled weekend. All group events will be held in the common area of the Coot Loop.

Camping:
We are camping for the weekend at the Grapevine Group Site campground in the Coot and Grebe Loops. The Coot and Grebe Loops each have its own centrally located restrooms, water spigots, one 110v outlet, a community fire pit, covered ramadas w/ picnic tables and charcoal BBQ grill. Plenty of room for a good time! Surrounding the center gathering area in each camping loop are plenty of individual campsites, each with parking, a picnic table and a fire pit. There are NO electric or water hookups at the campsites.  Attached below is the REQUIRED Camping form - please fill it out, print and bring it with you to give to the Camp Host.  One thing to note, both the Coot and Grebe Loops will be available to all registered users of this site beginning on 3pm Friday, April 17th.

AZCA Members Only Day:
AZCA Member's Only Day will be on Thursday, April 16th. The Coot & Grebe Loops will be open starting at 9am for AZCA Club Members ONLY to start setting up camp.

Friday Night Crawfish Boil:
On Friday night, April 17th the club will be having a Crawfish Boil catered by Arizona Crawfish Company starting at 6pm in the Coot Loop. All AZCA Club Members eat free. Crawfish Boil cost for Non-Members is $20 per person. A RSVP is required so we have an accurate headcount. Deadline to RSVP is Friday, April 3rd. To RSVP, please click here:  RSVP Here (http://www.azcrappie.com/forum/index.php?topic=2740.msg20683)

Friday Night BBQ:
For those who prefer “Turf” instead – the club will provide charcoal for the huge BBQ grill that’s also in the common area of the Coot Loop. Feel free to bring your own steaks, burgers or whatever else you feel like grilling.

Friday & Saturday Night Cornhole:
The club will have Cornhole sets available for use on Friday and Saturday nights for all you cornhole junkies.

Friday & Saturday Night Campfire:
Nightly group campfires will be at the Coot Loop common area. Firewood to share would be appreciated.

Fishing Derby:
The Club will have a fishing derby on Saturday, April 18th from 6am to 3pm.  Prizes will be awarded to derby & big fish winners. This is a private event for members of the Arizona Crappie Association, registered users of www.azcrappie.com and their families. Please see the attached Fishing Derby Form for more information along with the derby rules & regulations.  The Eveland Cup will once again be awarded to the derby winners - here's your chance to get your team's name engraved on the Eveland Cup.

With Spring Crappie Fest rapidly approaching, we would like to hear from any prospects that plan to attend the meeting with the intent to join the club. As stated in the bylaws a prospect must have attended one meeting within the the last 12 months to eligible:

Amendment C: After attending a qualified meeting (being a meeting open to the public or a closed meeting as a
guest of an AZCA member) prospective members may attend any other meeting within one year to be voted in as
a club member.

Please speak up so your name can be added to the ballot

For Those interested, Saturday night (time TBD) we will be having a gentlemans or gentle-ladies Poker Tournament. $5 entry with ALL monies being paid out to the winners. I will supply all the cards, chips, dealer buttons, etc needed. It will be tournament style your $5 buying you in for 5,000 in chips. I will design the blind structure based on the total number of players and for how long we want it to run (also TBD based on when we start). I have included a good link for some training if you are new to the game, otherwise just show up and have fun.

Larry, thanks for the write-pdf forms. Easy to fill out and print ahead of time and I don't have to worry about finding a pen at the ramada!

Guys, if you haven't yet, please download the forms that Larry posted. You can complete them online and print out ahead of time. Very handy.

Hey all OneBlade here your official derby director.  Just a few reminders.  Click the "2015 SCF Derby Entry Form Write.pdf" link above and download and print the derby form out so you can fill out ahead of time.  Cash only exact change so $40 for derby plus $20 for big fish so $60 if you want in for both.  My exact arrival time is in question but I will somehow get up there by Friday night.  For those camping, I can take entries Friday night and do livewell check then but if I do, then your boat must stay in the loop from that point on.  Or just show up Saturday morning and I start taking entries at 5:45am with me allowing boats to depart the loop no earlier than 6am.   I will have orange cones out - in the Coot loop campground area.

Please make sure you have your form filled out, cash ready, and boat ready to go if you get in the line Saturday morning 'cause once 6am comes around all boats checked in line will be allowed to leave.  I take entries up until 6:45am Saturday morning.

Everybody must fill one out.  This'll also be the time for any guests to pay for their camping, exact change please!  Thanks

OK, Billy we need to figure a way to launch our boats then connect our trucks and trailers together like a tandem, tandem trailer and have one guy go up and park in a really big parking spot and take the walk down the steps from hell then when we come in one guy takes the walk up the steps and brings the rigs down to the launch ramp :headbang: :lol_hitting:

It looks like Lauren and I aren't going to make it to SCF after all.  I had knee surgery Tuesday and I'm just not up to traveling, camping, climbing onto a boat and all of the like.  I could probably go and just sit around but I know I would end up on that boat or otherwise and risk re-injury.  First one we've missed in a lot of years.  No elk tags this year so the Bob Hirsch is looking good for us.

Good luck to all and travel safely.

Steve.

Did anyone catch a crappie in the derby?  I did not join the derbv, but I was there for two days and did not boat a fish!  I fished both ends and the middle.   Don't they call that getting Roosied?  Guess I should have went to Alamo....

I figured I'd wake you up so you could get off at Dunlap.  Lauren and I were on our way home from Gilbert AZ.

G&F kicked them off the lake because the fire extinguisher was not adequately charged.   I guess I need to look at that once a year.
