Title: 2011 Bob Hirsch Crappie Classic
Post by: Piscolli on May 23, 2011, 09:44 AM
The group site is booked, this years BHCC will be at the Goose Loop in the Grapevine Recreation Area of Roosevelt Lake from Friday, October 7th at 2 pm to Sunday October 9th at noon with a fishing derby on the 8th. Camping spots within the loop are first come, first served and can not be reserved or guarenteed for non-AZCA members.

For the first time in AZCA history, at Spring Crappie-Fest this past April the site was full by early Friday afternoon. However arangements were made and everyone that was willing to share a site was accomidate.

Within the group site there are about 20 individual camping sites. Some are single site (2 vehicles max) and some are double sites (4 vehicles max). Please do not take a double site if you don't need it as you will be asked to move.

For those of you that have not attended one of our 2 big annual events (SCF & BHCC) you don't know what your missing out on. The group site is absolutely perfect for an event like this. Its clean, comfortable and has a great view of the lake. There is a large gathering area in the middle of the loop with a huge firepit, 2 charcoal grills and 3 large covered ramadas with plenty of tables. Just up a short trail is a private restroom with running water. Also there is a 110v outlet and a water spigot (not for RV hook up). On the back side of the restroom there are are couple 110v outlets for charging batteries. The site, the people and all the great food will make it a weekend to remember!

Entry forms for camping and the fishing derby will be posted 30 days before the event. You do not have to camp at the group site to enter into the derby.

Me, Jay and Repo (Team Cream Puff) along with the entire AZCA Crew hope to see you there!

Bill-I will try to get Nummie to fish it with me. If not I will plan on bringing up the tinny and and a few chunks of firewood and fish it myself. I also need a recommendation for two crappie rods. I have a 35 year old Loomis that I loved and broke the tip off. Something in 6.5' or 7' in ultralight and not too spendy. Thanks.

Hey Glen, if Numms can't make it I'm sure you could find a partner here. As far as a rod, send me an email to Piscolli@cox.net as too what you want to spend and what your going to do with it (troll, bobber fish, cast, ect.) and I'll check on some rods for you. Or start a thread in the Crappie Gear forum, that way you can get ideas from other guys as well.

Can't make the September outing, due to participation in an event which will no longer be named, but hope to make the BHC, if I still have a boat.  As I will probably go solo, if anyone wants to partner up, let me know.

I will be there with my buddy Kyle.  He's never fished for crappie before, hopefully I can actually show him a few.  I rarely catch any in October ....

Is it bad that it's 2 weeks out and I'm already counting down?  I can't wait to get out fishing for a few days and hang with some good people.

It would be a good idea to avoid using HWY 60 east through Gold Canyon, they are re-paving the road and it is a real mess. Everyone drive safe and look forward to a good weekend.

Another one in the books and a fine one it was. Congrats to those who won, it was a tough one at best. It was great to see everyone and especially good to see new members enter the club, so welcome. What a great bunch we had this year, everyone pitched in and helped where needed so everything went smoothly. Thanks to all who brought fish so we were able to have a fish fry, and to all those who lent a hand. Thanks LLL and Hawk for the help with the unloading and loading of the fish fryer, I couldn't have done it without the help. We did miss Kelly and Patti this year but I hope we did them proud trying to fill in for them.
Can't wait till next time.

I agree Tritoon.  It was amazing how quickly everyone came together to make Saturday's dinner go smooth.  I enjoyed seeing a lot of the members again and meeting some new folks.  The weather on Saturday was perfect.  Fishing was tough, but hey isn't that normal for these October trips these days?  The food was fantastic.  I wouldn't mind grabbing a few of those recipes if people wouldn't mind sharing them.  Thanks for another great trip.  Can't wait until the next one.

Hey Bill.... Seattle just beat the Giants and your boy Vick tanked again...  1-4.

Campin Nana ( Debra Emerick) took ~40 pictures of the crowd, in various states of action---she will download and post as soon as we figure out how to attach a Photo album---if any of you want your individual photos, e-mail Deb at   debra.emerick@yahoo.com  ---
--if the club needs any Administrative work, just tag Debra--she really ( as well as I) enjoyed the BHCC and both look forward to more involvement in the future--
