Title: Bartlett 11/23
Post by: AZFishing03 on November 23, 2018, 02:49 PM
I fished from my kayak at the yellow cliffs area from 7:30-11:30am.  I targeted the trees/structure  as best I could.  It’s was difficult to stay where I wanted in the kayak because of the wind.  I would throw my marker down and 10 seconds later would be 15 yards away.

I vertical jigged a green curly tailed grub with a 1/16 oz red jig head...most of the fish I caught were in 10-15 feet suspended on top or in the trees.  I ended up with 3 nice sized crappie.

This was my first time out crappie fishing at Bartlett and I had a lot of fun.
Any tips for more success besides finding structure?  I’m assuming live minnows might work better?

Thanks!

Nice job on the crappie I can imagine if there is wind it moves you around? is there a way to put out small anchors front and rear to hold you? Hope there wasn't much boat traffic causing waves?

Nice work. I missed you by a few hours. Didn't have wind, but had to deal with a lot of traffic for the first couple of hours. I was using minnows in the same area. I did see another boat out there that did really good tight lining jigs

Good job 03!!  Way to get out there.  Minnows fished vertically or tipped on your jigs might of helped. But solid work!

And yes Bruce, they do make anchors specially for Yaks.
