Title: New to Alamo
Post by: cval2300 on March 29, 2016, 07:38 PM
I'm wanting to go camping/fishing at Alamo, and may be by myself for just short of a week. I have never been to Alamo. Is it safe? Is it very remote? What are the fees? How close are the closest minnows, fuel etc? What is the camping like? thanks in advance.

Best thing for you Google "Alamo Lake State Park ". You'll find all your answers and photos too.

Thanks. I've looked there before. It's a pretty basic website. But thank you for the info bowhunter. I also may have an open backseat!

The park at Alamo is very nice with everything from tent sites to full hookups, there is a 'store' there that has very little in it but they do have minnows. It is best to give them a call before you head out to check on the minnow situation, it is very remote and if they run out of minnows it is a long way back to the valley to get some. The lake is a nice lake to fish but be careful of trees in the upper end. There is gas and propane at Wayside which is about 7 miles away. The store does have ice. There are bath houses for showering if needed.
Good luck.
