The June 2023 meeting location will be at Wild Horse West restaurant near Lake Pleasant on Saturday, June
17th 10th at 4:30pm. Many attendees will have dinner there as well, and then after the meeting will head to Lake Pleasant for some night fishing.

Wild Horse West is located approximately three miles from Lake Pleasant on the south east corner of Carefree Hwy and Lake Pleasant RD (99th Ave). You can't miss it! Worth the drive and fun for the whole family. We have a full bar, inside and outside dinning, big screen TV, and juke box. Also come visit our general store with bait, tackle, beer, soda, snacks and supplies for the lake. The bait shop and store open at 6:30am and stay open all day. So bring the family and become part of the wild bunch.

There have been rumors that the WHW is closing. Not sure when that is supposed to happen though. Might want to pick an alternate location just in case.

I just spoke to the folks at Wild Horse they said ," where did you here that " do not worry Greg i left you out of it it , hehe, heh " we have not lost anything and are not closeing . SO with that being said they are closed on mondays ,

I had heard that rumor also was supposed to be a large housing development going in :dontknow: they are building a very large Shell gas station just north of the WH

Hey all!! The river arm doesn't open until June 15th. How about we move this meeting to Sat June 17th instead of June 10th?

Just a heads up. We wnt to plez on Saturday. The arm of the river is open but be careful it is fill of logs.

Well the river arm is now open so we can do original June 10th weekend if that works out better for everyone. Please chime in if you have a preference either way.

OK, I've shifted this back to Sat June 10th since river arm is now open and I thought maybe earlier may be better to reduce chance of monsoon issues. Hope to see you all there! Night fishing afterwards is optional or you could fish beforehand and meet at Wild Horse West afterwards. Please arrive at 4:30pm and we'll fit a meeting in there in between food and drink.

I will be at the meeting, eating a burger and 1/2 a Philly Cheese steak...then catching giant Stripped Bass....if I catch a Crappie by accident, I won't complain.

OK, who is going to make it to Saturday's meeting and possible night fishing? I know of one person (Patrick Middleton) looking to ride a backseat if one is available.

Might be a Fishgrease sighting. Tweeder, Wheathin, and PorkChopExpress are trying to make it. Looking good so far.

Matty....good chance my Son will be the 3rd on my boat. I think a Wildhorse Burger was the selling point.

I listened in to the live feed last night (they moved to Tue instead of Mon this week only) and sounds like there will be a few folks from that crew also attending. It should be a fun time. Please try and arrive bit before 4:30pm so we can start the meeting on time, order food, etc. I'm hoping to arrive around 4:15pm.
Randy Howton also mentioned Wild Horse West was out of minnows yesterday or day before. Don't know how temporary that is, but if you're planning on crappie fishing and getting minnows, be sure and call ahead to make sure they have some in stock.

Matt depending on how people plan to get to Wild Horse or come home at night ADOT is doing their usual fire drill for the roads. 303 will be closed eastbound from 8pm Fri till 6pm Sat then they close the west bound side this is all between lake pleasant road and I 17 and the forever grinding project that has been going on for a year with ADOT I think they have one guy with a piece of sand paper doing the work I 17 is closed Friday evening till Monday morning south bound from the 101 down to Thunderbird so you either go 101 somewhere or get off I 17 and take city streets to get around the nightmare.

We haven't finalized or July-August meetings but in September there will likely be an at-the-lake meeting each month through fall, winter, and spring with some coinciding with Arizona's trail in the National Crappie League (http://www.azcrappie.com/forum/index.php/topic,4959.msg34671/topicseen.html#new). However, you don't have enter or fish the tournaments if you don't want. The association members just love crappie fishing, sharing information, and helping others get on some crappie.
The Arizona Crappie Association's next big event is the Bob Hirsch Crappie Classic, at Roosevelt Lake, Oct 7th. This event includes crappie tournament, open meeting, raffle, fish fry potluck, poker game, and campfire. More info will show up on this website when we get closer.

Due to being on call...I was unable to head up the river arms like everyone else, so we stayed at the Marina with good cell reception. Did not have huge #'s but we did catch several very healthy drag pulling fish. Massive bait ball, but all small minows, no Shad, other than a few Giant Gizzards thst came through. Mid sized Strippers crashing the bait ball all night. Our big fish all came off the bottom at around 95 FOW.
