Title: Introduction: New to Crappie fishing Flag/Williams area
Post by: Savageman2506 on July 05, 2023, 01:44 AM
Hello y'all. Just stumbled into this forum while researching crappie fishing in AZ.

I've been out five or so times now with no success. Whitehorse, Lake Mary, as well as a couple other lesser known spots in the Williams/Flagstaff area and a couple bullheads, small bass and one walleye are all I've hooked into. Mostly using bits of crawler or mealworms, but curlytail jigs and small rebel crankbaits as well...

Any advice on how to target crappie from shore in the summertime? Potential rigs to use? I've been using dropper loop setups mostly, or 1/16th oz. jigheads under a float in shallower lakes.

I have been very successful at Whitehorse with a 1/16-1/32 jighead and any type of curlytail grub.  Retrieved slowly in early morning or late evening hours.  30+ crappie each outing, but they are pretty small.  about 7-10".  Its been about 3 years since I've fished it however. I've heard Kaibab Lake is good also, even though I have never been there.   Good luck and hopefully you can get a bunch.

Try that at Kaibab Lake for sure.  They are small there but there is a good population.

Frances Short Pond is a small lake in town at Flagstaff, and it has a good population of small Crappie.
