I found your crappie fisherman forum last month. Nice to discover a site local fishermen sharing some of their crappie knowledge. Hope to add a few reports this spring from Rosey here as well. Sounds like Rosey with the dirty water inflow followed by a couple weeks of warm weather could trigger a good spawn, lets hope so. Tight lines to all.... :sign0144:

AZCrappie has 4 open meetings per year: one in March, one at the Spring Crappie Fest in April, one in September, and the last one in October at the Bob Hirsch Classic. To become a member of the club, you would need to attend 2 of these open meetings and in the 2nd open meeting would be a vote by members to allow you in the club. Once you are voted in, you get access to the club house are of the AZCrappie forum where more detailed reports are given as well as you can attend the other closed meetings that occur each month in various lakes across the state. Stay tuned on the site for details of when the next open meeting is and where.

Yes non members can fish the derby

:crybaby2: Seems as there is a lot to do to get into a fishing group. Can I ask why so hard?

Don't let all the mumbo jumbo intimidate you. It's really a very simple process, actually not a process at all. Just come up for the meeting(s), introduce yourself & hang out. It's as simple as that. We're a very laid back group.....

Ha Ha sorry didn't mean to scare you out with the process. Yes, just show up to the open meetings and have fun. Great times!
-
If you don't want to join, at least come to the SCF. That is the biggest turn out of members, where you can meet everyone and decide. It is a really laid back group of people that like to fish and hang out.

song and dance, song and dance, come on LOL

--Bloody Duck--
The SCF ( Spring Crappie Fest) is a real "HOOT"---The turn out is usually one of the best of the year, Husbands , Wives and children, most camp out for 2-3 days. The Gang is all very family friendly with Saturday evening being the main campfire event---after a full day of Crappie fishing, this could be labeled the "Liars Campfire Group"---Come on out and see---bring your family , other crappie fisherman---You are more than welcome----

Sounds good. I am a Flathead fisherman as well. SO I guess y'all could refer to me as the Crappie protector!

Allow me to explain and clear up a few thing about joining the AZCA.
It is a 2 meeting "process". This is ensure that people have a genuine interest in the AZCA and are not just looking for a club sticker or t-shirt to add to their collect. We would rather have a few dozen members that are going to be active in the club than 100 that are not.
Our 4 open meetings a year are for prospective members to come and check out the club. After attending an open meeting, if you feel the AZCA is for you, you can attend any other monthly meeting to be voted in. We used to allow prospects at all 12 meetings. What we found was that we were spending a lot of time on prospects and not enough on members.
Like the crew said, come to SCF and hang out. It is by far the best weekend in the outdoors I have every year. If you then decide you want to join great. If not you've had a blast and met some really great people.
And BTW, Friday and Saturday night's dinners are incredible!
I just posted details in the Spring Crappie-Fest forum.

:sign0098: I look forward to it sir.

So how did the Spring Crappie fest turn out? Anyone have some nice crappie reports or numbers of fish caught? I've read many people think the crappie spawn is still a few weeks away? I'm curious to hear some feedback on whether the fish have moved into the shallows or still suspended and waiting to move to the banks or coves to spawn. Sorry i missed the big event, i hope to catch the next one. I'm not one to turn down some pan fried crappie very often. Sounds like a good time though. Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks
