Title: Pleasant Night Trip - 6/26
Post by: PhishingPhreek on June 28, 2019, 01:36 PM
I was planning on hitting Pleasant with Preston and a coworker that night, but my wife ended up coming down with strep and a double ear infection and had to cancel...

But when I got home the kids were making lots of noise and were asking about fishing... Having loaded up the boat and getting everything ready the night before, I decided "hell with it". I wanted to give my wife a quiet night, so I loaded up my kids and went to Pleasant for a few hours with my sister and the kids.

We fished up the AF in basically the same spot I was a few weeks ago with the club. When I pulled into the "No Wake" area I was surprised to see 5 other boats lined up against the south wall on a Wednesday night! The graph looked similar to what it looked like last time. Fish suspended between 12-20 feet from the surface in the channel. WE got the lights in and started fishing just after 8. Got the kids set up first and got working on my set up when I hear my daughter say "I think something's going on here" (She's only 5, so we're still working on her fishing terminology). I can see from my seat that her line pointed out towards me, so I know she had something. She reels it in and pulls up the first crappie of the night! She freaked out and didn't want to take any pictures... oh well.

We fished until 11:30 and I ended up catching 9 crappie, my sister caught 1 crappie and 1 channel cat, and my daughter had her 1 crappie. My son got skunked... In his defense he's only 2, was using a Paw Patrol fishing rod that has terrible action, and I didn't set him up with the right rig.
We caught everything using a DS style rig with minnows. I had grubs on one hook, but they always took the minnow.

This was my son's first time on a night fishing trip and he did great! My daughter did a few with me last year, so she's a veteran now.

TL:DR
Fished the AF arm at Pleasant with my kids and sister. Caught 11 crappie and one small cat using minnows.

Great report Louis, those 5 boats probably the striper night raiders. Heck the lake has dropped about 6' since you were there the last time and the water is getting real warm.

I didn't get too many pictures on the trip, but here's a few.

This was the biggest one I caught on the night. The picture makes it look small, but it was a little over 12"

He had tons of fun out on the water! Can't wait until he starts pulling the fish in.

Tough to see, but there were tons of bait fish around my light.

The graph showed the fish stacked around 12-20 feet when I first got there. When i left, the bait fish were so thick around us it registered 3 FOW
