Title: AZGFD Habitats at Saguaro
Post by: OneBlade on November 11, 2021, 07:39 AM
I'm sure there are crappie in Saguaro, but many members of this club don't target them there. Just saw this on the TNF Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/TontoNationalForest) and wonder if it may help some find those crappie better.

Attention Anglers!
Recently, the #TontoNF partnered with Arizona Game & Fish (AGFD) and volunteers for a Fish Habitat Improvement Project. With the help of volunteers, AGFD was able to construct and install 41 Georgia Cube Habitat Structures in Saguaro Lake. Fish habitat improvement projects have been shown to improve angler catch rates by providing fish species the necessary physical structures for cover and their forage. These Georgia Cubes are meant to attract a range of baitfish and game species such as channel catfish, large and smallmouth bass, and rainbow trout just to name a few.
Additional habitat build and installation events are scheduled through Dec. 8, 2021. For more information or to volunteer, visit: https://bit.ly/3wxMk4i

Matt, g and f posted their build and deploy dates on their public Face Book fishing website all the days volunteers were needed. They are building quite a few more Georgia cubes and then hoping to get some Christmas trees after the holidays (with the shortage of trees they may be tough to get?)
