Setting was perfect for me to use the fly rod. Brought the 5 weight, and ran an extra long 15 foot leader under an indicator. Bottom fly USA a #12 gold bead Greenie Weenie and above that a #18 gold bead hairs ear. Hand one solid strike with a hook up for a good 3 seconds before it pulled. Iím very excited for the spawn as I think this may be a deadly method. To add to Daveís post above, on the minow rig, I had much greater action using the small minows vs the larger ones......just an observation.

I will be in attendance. There is the parking lot about 1/2 mile up from the main ramp that we have used before. Would that work?

Hi Rob,

Alamo is a normal lake in AZ, and part of the State Lake system. The pass for the day to enter the park includes lake access, google Alamo Lake AZ, and web page will pull right up. Think day use is in the $5-$8 dollar range. They have many camping, RV sites, small store open 8am-5pm. Fishing requires standard AZ fishing license and all info for that can be found at AZ Game and Fish web page.

Have 2 poker buddies who apparently one never caught a fish and the other caught one bluegill once in 8th grade and neither been on a boat. Hit Bartlett and floating by 8am. Main ramp only one open, and at 8MPH, 35 minute run to Yellow Cliffs area. Found many schools holding tight to trees in 18-22 FOW, new crew struggled to convert strikes to fish in boat, but in the end 2 nice crappies made it home with them to hit the grease. Both on minows, threw the jig as I always do and had a few bass, but couldnít repelcate the FishLess Pattern. Bonus was a sweet eagle outfishing is.
