Bartlett / Bartlett FishMan 11/14
« on: November 04, 2018, 04:37 PM »
Have 2 poker buddies who apparently one never caught a fish and the other caught one bluegill once in 8th grade and neither been on a boat. Hit Bartlett and floating by 8am. Main ramp only one open, and at 8MPH, 35 minute run to Yellow Cliffs area. Found many schools holding tight to trees in 18-22 FOW, new crew struggled to convert strikes to fish in boat, but in the end 2 nice crappies made it home with them to hit the grease. Both on minows, threw the jig as I always do and had a few bass, but couldnít repelcate the FishLess Pattern. Bonus was a sweet eagle outfishing is.

All Other Lakes / Green Valley Lake Payson Nov 3 2018
« on: November 03, 2018, 05:01 PM »
Hit Green Valley Lake in Payson today for some Greenie Weenie Fly fishing action. Ended with about 30 Crappie, could of had 100 but moved on to targeting trout. Never catch any larger then 8 inches, but they are so much fun on the fly rod. Used my famous Greenie Weenie on the bottom and a size 16 Gold bead hairs ear on the dropper above. Roughly a 5 foot leader under a strike indicator. Twitch Twitch pause. Repeat.

Alamo / Alamo 9/29/2018 Pre BHC Report
« on: September 29, 2018, 07:50 PM »
So a buddy an I made the long treak to Alamo this morning. Left Mesa at 5:30am, all roads were perfect with no dead cows along the way. Rigged up and ready at 8:00am in the store parking lot. Store with lots of minows and no restrictions on amounts purchased but they were very, very small. Camping and RV areas were Dead....Total of maybe 5 boats on lake with 3 for Crappie and 2 for Bass. It was freaking HOT. Boated one Keeper right away, one dink few bass, then found an area with lots of bass and well....Tommy is Tommy so you know what happens. After my elbow was sore and thumb bloody I went and explored the other ramps. Tried to get a few photos....Choiya is down to the cement slab thing but 100 usable by any vehicle, no worries or issues with nice dock in place. The other ramp closest to the damn is fully useable and looks to have pavement all the way along with a dock and some not sure why needed bouys.  Jiggy Jiggy everyone........we should all Ben excited for 2 weeks from now and all be bringing our 1/2 inch Tube Jigs with lime green tubes to catch a whole bunch of Fish X.........but me......Iílll be weighing in 7 Three Pounders......after of course having fun with Fish X. On the water late 10:00am as took a youngster Andy his dad. Water level way down,Yellow Cliff ramp fully functional and open. Fished up river, marked tons of life in the 20-30 foot range, huge bait balls with mixed in predators. No crappie found, dropp shot Minowes and vertical jigged. Picked up a bunch of bass and cats, lake flat calm, only a few other boats most were basing, saw one other long lining but didnít see them picking anything up. Fish on and merry Christmas.

Crappie Questions / Is this a baby Crappie?
« on: March 29, 2017, 07:18 PM »
So as most of you know, Tommy love him his fly rod, especially when there a toowater bite. I caught about 30 or so of the one in the first photo, with the dry fly in his mouth, a basic run of the mill ordinary bluegill. And then I had only one of the second photo, different fins, different tail, no stripes, much larger protruding the million dollar question, is it a Crappie or just a misfit bluegill. Bruce, your thoughts?

General Discussion / East side Minnow needs
« on: April 07, 2016, 08:35 PM »
I made contact after many years with Ron from D & R Baits. He's back to running out of his driveway, and provided me with a quality count for only $2.00 a dozen. This is how it works, you call him 480-694-5207 cell, 480-832-4285 office, tell him how many you want and when you will pick them up. He leaves them in a cooler in the driveway in an industrial bag that he fills with oxygen. So long as u keep them cool. They stay happy 24+ hours in the bag. Good thing is u can get them at 4am or 11pm. 4354 E Emelila, Mesa. Keep in mind he doesn't do texting well, so u have to call. Fish on!!!!!
