Males will be jet black when hard on nests and sometimes go black in the livewell when kept before they actually move up they turn black as they get ready to do their thing. Sound like if they were in 2-3' they are ready. Couple of those crappie look maybe like females? only because they have an enlarged belly. Great catch especially for your first time exploring the lake.

Most of the fish I caught was in 2 to 3 ft in the sticks. But water keep rising and my sticks just goes under water.
I show the fish to the Ranger and they say the fish is all male and dark already.

I went to Bartlett on Monday and stopped by the Ranger station to inquire about the SB boat ramp.  Ranger claimed it was the responsibility of Fish and Game to repair the boat ramp. I'm confused. :dontknow:

that is not entirely right but if we wait for TNF to fix the dock it will be a year. The cable is broken for the dock of course no one said anything till after the lake filled. At least they got TNF to put up signage to let people know the ramp is closed as when I was there several people drove in with their trailers and had to turn around and go back and launch at the main ramp.

(IF) everything goes to plan g and f will hopefully fix the cable and have the dock back in service at SB cove Friday afternoon 3/22

Great report, and wow! Over 60 degrees is interesting because how low all the other lakes are. I know Alamo always warms up earlier though.
~60 degrees is the spawning temp, so that could be why they were getting them shallow. Seems like most of the other lakes are finding them suspended, if they bite.

Thanks Nick for the info, Louis their darn spawning areas keep moving about once a week as these storms come through. I saw the lake went up 3' in a short amount of time. I had heard the water temp before this last storm had gotten to 65 but that cold water mix stirs things up. I guess it is time to make a trip and crash through the lumber. Wish the dock would get fixed and set at the main launch ramp.

The flood release manual for the CORE has them starting to release water at 1125, not to pull the lake down below that but to keep it at 1125 "what they consider full pool" before flood control releases start."

All Other Lakes / Re: Upper Lake Mary is flowing nicely
« Last post by azbohunter on March 19, 2019, 04:30 AM »
The wind blows down the length of Upper Lake Mary just about every day plus skiers and boat traffic keep the silt suspended in the water column. Just the nature of the lake...it is great to see all the water flowing into all of our lakes.

Cousinlll, grab yourself 2 Solix 15 gen2, Ultrex112, ethernet hub, and while you're at it throw in a Garmin LiveScope with a 15" display.
May as well upgrade to LiPo batteries while you're at it!
