Well after months of bad luck, truck and boat problems my good buddy Fishless invited me out on his boat for some Crappie fishing. The only problem was when we met up at Cave Creek and Union Hills he made me put this Nike sweatband over my eyes to protect his secret spots.
After fishing like Stevie Wonder all day, when we return to the Albertson's where I left my Tahoe I removed the blindfold to find 25 keepers in his livewell.
Seriously, we fished several of Bruce's spots and caught about 40. It was a "slow" day in Bruce's standards but I was thrilled! 50 fillets in my freezer makes me happy
. We cast 1/16 oz into several trees using dark colored Kalin. We'd pick up 2 here, 2 there. A couple spots gave up 10 to 12. So we had to really grind it out for the 25 keepers. But a great day on the water with a good friend is better than all the slabs in the world. I'm sure Bruce would disagree
The fish we caught were between 12 and 20' below the surface, some just ticked the bait and some crashed it.
Thanks again brother! Fishing with you is always a treat. And now, for the first time in months, I know what a Crappie tick feels like.
