Bartlett 6/14

Night fished Bart from 6pm until 1130. Set up shop in Cat Bay/Yellow Cliffs area over some trees in 26 FOW. Water temp around 80 degrees, and lots of floating debris out there. Scored 6 nice crappie and one cat using vertical drop shot rigs 2 to 3 turns off the bottom.

Nice Report, I will be doing what I read here this Saturday night.  Any certain color in particular work best?  Or just straight hook?

On my boat we had 14 foot and 10 foot poles set up with 2 Owner #4 mosquito hooks, and a 3/16 weight at the bottom of the rig with minnows.

And for me, one 14' & one 12' crappie rods both fishing vertical with 2 ea size 4 Mustad #37361 light wire aberdeen hooks as recommended by Wadefisherman. My backseater was using gold hooks while mine were blueish.  My setup was kind of like a mini capps & coleman rig with a light bullet weight sinker, chartreuse bead & bobber/sinker stop to keep the weight stationary between the hooks.

Reason for these light wire hooks, in my opinion, is that 1) the hook diameter is so small it'll help keep the minnow alive longer on the hook and 2) if ever snagged the hook will hopefully bend before you loose your whole rig.  The minnows this time of year seem to be on the smaller size so the smaller diameter hooks help with the minnows longevity.  On our boat, we were tail hooking the minnows.

Longer 14' rod was fished outside the glow of the lights while the 12' rod was fished just at the fringe of the light.

Good luck & please post a report…….
