Pleasant/Cast for kids
« on: April 29, 2023, 03:49 PM »
The south ramp was closed due to debris, so we all launched from the North side of pleasant harbor. Got picked by a really nice family, and headed up to Castle creek.

We headed up to some flooded cottonwood trees in 20 FOW and it didn't take long to hook up with our first fish. We got there at 830, and fish on by 845.

Wind really was blowing us around, and I can see a definite difference between old and new technology of spot lock. When my motor decided to put us back on a couple of trees, it was fish on.

Randy Howden was up there guiding , and took us to another tree that was loaded with fish. They were mostly blugil, but we did catch a few crappie there.

Met a great family that are serving in the military, and their son, Jet, caught 5 fish. Worth every moment to go.

If I was going to go chase crappie. Pleasant is the lake I would go to. The clarity is so much better than any other lake. Temps were in the mid 60s. Find some trees up in Castle. Fill the livewell

That's great Dave, would you be OK if I move this topic to the public forum?

I will say this. If you are going to fish Pleasant, I recommend driving up to the county side and launching at Scorpion Bay. It was brutal to and from the Harbor side. There were logs mid lake that could easily take out things on your boat. Aside from the rough waters
